I'm going to CT tomorrow, and I'll be passing the exit (ex 45 off rt84) with the 100 octane fuel (at the Pump). It's probably almost $5/gallon
Is anyone intersted? If you are, I can purchase up to 20 gallons total. That's Four 5 gallon cans.
I'm not doing this for profit....I'm just encouraging my fellow speed junkies. =)
If you are interested, it requires that I purchase a 5 Gallon Gas can for you too. I don't know how much for the can - take a guess.
I'll be at Adrenaline on Saturday, so you can pick it up then.
Anyone?
<Homer Voice> hmmmmm, race gas.

Exit 45? That's right in Hartford. I thought the race gas was up by Stafford Springs...

I'm not sure if its exit 45 or 48. I live in West Hartford which is exit 43(for W.Hartford Center). I think exit 45 is either Flatbush or Sigourny. And 48 is Capitol Ave in Hartford. I travel tru there alot, and have yet to see 100 octane. I'll drive around today after work, and look for it. I thought there was a place up by Vernon on rt84. Exit # in the 60's. I'll let you know on my way home tonight.
Either way, if you're going to be in the area for a little while let me know. Maybe we can meet up for lunch or a drink?

Ask around... local racers know where to get it. I'm not chipped, so I don't remember off the top of my head, but there are a good number of stations in the metro Boston area that apparently carry it and don't advertise the fact (its not on a pump, its in barrels, so you have to ask and they'll fill a can for you).
Ask at Adrenaline this weekend, they ought to know. I know John knows a couple places.

i have a 97 2.8q no mods will it do any harm if not how much inprovement will it give me It's been awhile since my IC engines class and I'm sure another one of these guys will give you a better explanation but the answer I'd give you is Maybe and Little. Here's the problem your ecu has been mapped around lower octane fuel (91?). It has the ability to advance/slow timing around a fairly tight envelope (+/-2 on the octane rating). this is done to avoid "pinging" or early/late detonation of the fuel air mixture. Now if you put 100+ octane in your engine the threshold of detonation is increased dramatically. over time your ECU will try to compensate but I don't think your stock mapping will ever go far enough. Now some of the guys with chips have "race programs" that compensates for all this. To be honest I don't know how the ones without race programs work. Maybe since the entire program is much more aggressive it has the ability to "learn" faster and go further than your stock one. Then again I might not know what I'm talking about. At least you have .02 cents to start with and if I get corrected you'll have your answer.
