Anyone here have the newer plates (white, blue/red) NOT run a front plate? I know its illegal(here in MA), but has anyone here actually taken the front plate off and been ticketed? Just thought I'd get a local sampling.

No plates on the front for me. Also, on my old GTi, I went without a front plate(had a new euro bumper and couldn't make myself drill into it) for about 1-2yrs. Never had a problem. I just used zip-ties to hold it on for inspections. And I have no plate on the A4. Also, no holes on the front, or a bracket. So no plate for about 6mo.'s now.

I really want to take my plate off. I hate having it on there. Take away from the car so much. Just gonna have to patch some holes....
I know S4MadMan does not run fronts. A lot don't you just run the risk of an aditional fine if you get pulled over...

1 year, 8 days and counting. No ticket or even a second glance by the police. Well, there was this one, but he didn't step around front to see that I had no front plate (this was at night). However, he did give me a $285 ticket for doing 83 in a 55 on rt 2, heheh. Also didn't help that my registration was expired, ack! My worst nightmare, a two wheel tow truck pulling my quatro away to the impound lot, nooooooooo! I guess he thought I was sweating enough with the fat ticket.

Thanks for the replies guys...and nice pics too! hehe...seems i might join the dark side soon...btw, did you all do the paint on that little plastic piece yourself, or take it to a bodyshop with paint code and have them colormatch it(seems like a big deal for a small part)?

Do you have FastLane tags? I think they photo your plate, but it may be the rear one.

no, i don't use fastlane tags...but i'm pretty sure they take pics of teh rear plate anyway. plus, they would need to take pics of both plates, since the old plates(green) don't require you to run a front plate.

I have the front plate on the S4 but not on the Miata. Just got the Miata inspected last month, they didn't even notice. Fast lane does photo your back plate. When I got the S4, I e-mailed and added it, somehow it didn't happen and I got 2 notices in the mail when their sensors failed to pick up the tag. They wanted $50 for each time through, fortunately I had copies of the e-mail I had sent and got it reduced to a warning. Kind of strange getting a picture of your car in the mail, reminded me of that speeding ticket story that floated around about the guy sending them a pic of a check or something.

Speaking of Fastlane, let me rant a little. Hehee : )
I once got a warning from Fastlane that had a picture of a Jeep Cherokee on it, with a license plate number clearly different from my plate number on the notice, which furthermore was for my old Geo Prizm which was no longer even registered. Kind'a makes ya all warm and fuzzy to see that our taxes are being wasted on complete morons doesn't it?

Nope, Fast Lane shoots the rear plate, I know from PERSONAL experience. Also, check out the picture of my S4, you see any FastLane tag? Nope, but I have one. Neatly hidden. I will take some pictures if you are interested. no, i don't use fastlane tags...but i'm pretty sure they take pics of teh rear plate anyway. plus, they would need to take pics of both plates, since the old plates(green) don't require you to run a front plate.
