I'm new to Arlington, Mass (from Ontario) and I'm wondering which local roads are favorites of the members here. I enjoy a spirited drive but I find the state police a bit of a bummer on the 128 besides, going fast in a straight line doesn't really turn my crank that much).
I took a trip into NH with my wife's car (Integra) and found a couple of great roads just north of Keene that I will revisit with the A4 but I'm looking for something closer.
Thanks.
Brian ;D

I like storrow drive, usually at night there aren't that many cars. It's a good road and it has a moderate amount of curves. I haven't seen police on it either. I think the stretch from Copley to Harvard Sq (and Harvard to Copley) is the best part. I've seen a few races on it, and participated in one too. As for NH, Rt. 3 was awesome - 3 lanes, smooth road, nice curves. But then i got caught and got my license suspended for 30 days in NH. I've been told there's even more cops there now. So I wouldn't recommend it. I'm new to Arlington, Mass (from Ontario) and I'm wondering which local roads are favorites of the members here. Rt122 is nice. Curves, hills, no traffic, few cops and the ones that are there don't seem to care (been clocked @ 15 over and he didn't bat an eye).

My favourite road is off of rt. 109 in Dover. Dig out the map and find Dover Road, and follow it onto Powissitt Road in Dover. I'm not sure of the spelling, but it is desolate and the curves are breathtaking. There is NO WAY that anyone would normally find this route, but I was lucky enough to have a pal who lived there.
BTW, he was the one with the '92 S4 that Garrett himself worked on. That was my introduction to Audi. Gaaaa...

Keep the suggestions coming! I'm going to check some of them out over the next few days. I have to admit, though, I'm not into roads like Rte. 3 in NH and Storrow Drive. They're too straight and the curves are too broad for my taste. I prefer a narrow, tight road with multiple turns that force me to downshift a couple of gears each time I take them. If possible, I like to induce a bit of drift into the car when I exit the curves.
For those of you with Mapquest, look up Alstead NH or Stoddard NH. If you turn off of Rte 9 (not too bad itself) onto Rte 123 and power through to Alstead you'll be in for a challenging treat. You just have to watch out for slow pickup trucks. ;-)
Please, keep the suggestions coming. My hope is that maybe a few of us could get together for a day of driving 2 or three of these!

Actually, I'm quite familiar with that area, having gone to high school there. :-) Dover and Sherborn have some excellent driving roads, I just don't want anyone driving on them ;D --Jeff My favourite road is off of rt. 109 in Dover. Yee Hawww! (Sorry - Throwback to my Dukes of Hazzard childhood) I drove Powissitt Road this afternoon and it is exactly what I am looking for! Wonderful curves and lightly dusted with snow and slush! I had to downshift on the turns (most of them blind) and I felt like I was really driving again! (beats sitting in traffic on the 128) You didn't warn me about the dip at the Powissitt Farm, though. I was airborne for a bit! The way back was a bit slower through that area. Make sure you tie down anything in the trunk. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try some of the others out soon. Brian

Brian, there's a few roads in that area where you need to be careful about catching atmosphere. Watch out on what I believe it Hospital Rd (it may change names at an intersection, I'm not sure) in Medfield, right near The Pits. Even going the speed limit you will catch air over the train tracks. The landing area is majorly gouged up from others who have been there before you.
If you are looking for high speed a run (and I do mean VERY high speed), hit rte27 in Medfield with someone running ahead with a radar detector and a Talkabout. There have been rumors of certain exotics based in Sherborn hitting 200+ there. Only rumors, of course.

AluminouS4 - I agree, Rt2 out west is great. On one of the Worcester drives we went up Rt122 and then turned around once we hit Rt2. That whole area of the state is pretty nice for driving on.

The latter idea is very intriguing. I'm not sure the 1.8T would be good for anything close to 200+ unless you're talking km/h, though.

I'm heading out Route 2 mid-February for a weekend. I can't wait to experience the roads. I'll be trying out Rte. 122 at the same time.

Yes, I was talking MPH. Sherborn has a lot of wealthy folks who not only own various exotics, but they actually drive them. Several even have had them modified. 200mph won't ever happen for our 1.8Ts until we swap in new gears. Our cars gear out at about 155mph :-\ The latter idea is very intriguing. I'm not sure the 1.8T would be good for anything close to 200+ unless you're talking km/h, though.

I know that's impossible for the 1.8Ts. I was saying it with awe in my voice. Two hundred mph? Makes me almost reconsider twisty roads in search of speed... almost...
I was a pit crew member (volunteered once) for the Istook Aines Motorola Cup S4 racing team at one of the Panoz tracks and seeing them go by at roughly 150 mph was a huge rush. 200 is unimaginable.
