I was watching the NBC news yesterday, WHDH in Boston, and apparently Krispy Kremes is going to open up somewhere on Route 128 (aka I95)!
We now have another selection for impromptu GTGs!

...I get to taste what all this hype is about. I just don't see it. No way any donut could get me excited like nipple rings. Saaaay, what about our new members, they need to be "initiated" and DoctorNo should be FIRST on the list. ;D I was watching the NBC news yesterday, WHDH in Boston, and apparently Krispy Kremes is going to open up somewhere on Route 128 (aka I95)! OK, NOW THE GLOVES ARE OFF... I am NOT new to this board, pally! Please proceed to the Member Page and see that my number is 1028, and since those numbers were assigned, umm, NUMERICALLY, I have been here LOOOOOONG before you, S4Mudhen! And besides, I already have so many things pierced that it takes me four days to get through Logan checkpoints - and that was back when Argenbright Security Corp was still running the show! Of course, all of the above was said in jest - BUT CHECK THE MEMBER PAGE.....

I'm very sad to hear that you, Dan, wordly traveller though you may be, are still a KKV at your age...Me, I lost my KK cherry last summer within hours of landing in Orlando; the store closed at midnight but we drove up at about 11:55PM, grabbed a sixpack of doughy goodness, and drowned in sensous ecstacy.
Oh, and then we ate those really tasty donuts. :-)

...I just thought it was ridiculous and didn't go. People bought them but I didn't try'em because I had no interest. I still don't believe the hype but wanna try some because if it's really that good or really attracts people, I wanna open a KK around the Natick area near the mall or in a mall. Also, I'm looking to do a Yoshinoya...Beef Bowl, ever heard of that? That's BIG in SoCal. That would make bank too. There's much money to be made in the Boston area. Just the timing. It's all about the timing. Allright I'll admit that I'm a KKV virgin too. Guess I'll have to break my fast on dognuts - been at least 3 years since my last Boston cream pill.
Madman - you want to franchise let me know. Could be the next El Pollo Loco or In N Out - who knows.

Evy and I discussed the merits of getting a KK franchise (weren't really serious, but discussed it anyhow). She said it would HAVE to be in a high-traffic area, since, in her words, "Their coffee isn't like Dunkin's - it SUCKS..."
So, you're not gonna be getting the morning coffee crew, just the round-the-clock doughnut people!!
That being said, I couldn't possibly see it losing money. They are soooo fresh and warm, they melt in your mouth.

...so little time. I know many investors that want me to send them business proposals...they are throwing money at me to invest (based on my previous track record) but I don't have the time right now. However, I'm really thinking about the KK venture because it's just outta control: $$$. I'd definitely invest a significant portion myself but leave the franchising fees and PPE (PropertyPlant Equipment) for the Big Dawgs, my investors. Last time I heard just the franchise fee was $1 million correct? So to get EVERYTHING going, out-the-door, including 6-months of operating time was close to $1.8 million. <br> If those numbers have not gone up, I'd have to see the books, run some numbers, and figure out cash flow. I mean I know it would be profitable but I would want to know how long it would take to get our investment back. I'm thinking conservatively 2 years, straight line depreciation on everything over 10 years. Something to think about. It would be awesome though if we could do a Boston Audi Group KK joint venture and everyone had a little piece of the pie and heck, get some of the BAG investors to manage/work there. We'd KICK ASS!!! It would be the coolest and I'm sure loudest KK with the best and most secure parking lot. With RESERVED parking I'm sure. ;D Definitely the hippest too. I was thinking Shopper's World right there by the Logan Express just off the 30. There's a lot of parking and empty space there...things that make you go hmmmm... I hate this, money's not the issue, the time and energy and doing the business plan is. Grrrrrrr, some times I wish there were 3 of me. Not wait, nevermind, that would be scary! ;D Scratch that thought. ;D Allright I'll admit that I'm a KKV virgin too. Guess I'll have to break my fast on dognuts - been at least 3 years since my last Boston cream pill. Madman - you want to franchise let me know. I think a PC gaming arcade/internet cafe would make a decent profit on moderate up-front costs, and with relatively low maintenance costs...Visited one in an upscale mega-mall just north (west?) of NYC, and it was ROCKING. No matter how much we love online gaming, it's nice to be able to dish out the smack talk in person :-)
