Hello, I have been stealthly lurking around the board for quite some time, but I (actually, my wife) finally got an Audi. She traded in her 98' Volvo S70 for 99' A6 Avant, and we both are so excited!
I wanted A4, but my wife liked A6 avant so much, and it was her decision! Anyway, I will be picking up the car in 2 days, and I just can't wait. I just wanted to introduce myself. Hope to join your events some day.
Oh, could you please recommend me the best Audi dealer (in terms of mechanics) or service mechanics in town? I have tried Clair, but I am not sure whether they are good. Since we are buying a used car, we want to check which services were done to the car. Thanks a lot for your help.
Sincerely, Tiger740

...I hear Ira in Danvers is probably the best. I purchased my car from Clair too, they were nice but the wait list for service is too long 3 to 4 weeks.
I am not a fan of Bernardi.
Hope this helps. ;D

In first place I'd like to congratulate you and your wife in the new purchase.
As far as service/mechanics go, I've bought the car from Clair and only go to get it serviced there. Thumbs up so far.
I've heard good things about IRA in Danvers, but that is far for me to go to. I plan all my work ahead, to minimize wait for a Clair appointment.
Bernardi for me is a no go. Very bad sales experience on a $40K car, and I was willing to pay MSRP. You figure it out!
New or used, I think the folks at Clair and Ira would be very happy to assist you.

Thanks a lot! I live relatively close to Ira Audi (actually Clair is a bit far from me). So I will check it out!

Hi and Congs, to you and your wife. To be honest Ira service sucks but a lot. To make the story shorter, Their mechanics didn't now 50% of what i know, last time i spend $200 only for check and they did't found the problem. I have good expiriace with Pass and Waise in Burlignton. But for Ira i can say that only Sales is the best. Similar problem has friend of mine. They checked him car and didn't found anything he has no heater, no cruse control, bad rear shock .we leave a list with these problem to be check and they didn't found anything wrong.
OOO man i write so much and with so much mistake. Anyway, you can try couple dealer and decide which one is better for you. I tried 3 of them in MA and Pass And Waise are the best for me
Sorry for my English
Ivan

Hi Ivan,
Sorry to hear of your problems with Ira. Personally, I don't have any experience with them. Sounds like we have a couple of good experiences, and one bad so far.
Getting your car serviced isn't much of an issue. I guess once our cars start giving problems, we'll truly be able to separate the good from the bad (mechanics)!
On a side note, how long do you normally have to wait for an appointment at Pass&Waise?

And welcome. You will have to come to the next meet sometime. We don't have any A6's show up so hopefully you can take some of the flames away from me and my 2.8A4.. But welcome, very nice car. As for service goes. I goto IRA.. They have always treated me right and I will always recommend them.. Clair is also very good. My suggestion is when you go for service ask to speak to the service manager. Just to get to know him and ask him a couple basic questions, just to get a feel for their service department. The manager usually is a good reflection of how the service department runs. Thats what I do anyways. Again WELCOME, hope to meet ya sometime in person.

Congrats, first and foremost.
Worst case scenario, Inskip Autocenter in Warwick, RI usually gets you in next day. I have had some minor issues, but overall, they seem to get the job done.

Welcome to the Cult. You will be contacted shortly regarding initiation.
I bought my car at Bernardi and have had a couple of minor services done there. The new Audi service dept there seems to know their stuff, BUT I had a somewhat major problem when I bought my car. Apparently the service dept seemed to think that Audi's recommended tire inflation was too high, so they only inflated my tires to 22psi (my fuel door says 32 as minimum). The result: a scratched rim and a tire that was on the verge of exploding during my drive home from Worcester. When I brought it to Bernardi, they did give me 4 new tires with no questions asked. However, after that I have VERY little confidence in their abilities.
Lately I've been going to Wagner Audi in Boylston and would recommend them to anyone in the area. They can usually get me an appointment in less than a week (which apparently is good for an Audi dealer) and always get the job done on time. The pickup/drop-off can be a bit slow, but otherwise they seem to be pretty good.
As for the slowest car of the bunch, I think my car takes that honor, unless there is a stock A41.8T with an auto here.

...the initiation, don't do it. It's a nipple piercing. Just be like me, an "honorary member" of the Boston Audi Group. ;D Welcome to the Cult. You will be contacted shortly regarding initiation.
