If you check your Mass. policy you will probably find collision damage (to your car) is not covered in anything that remotely smells like racing. Funny though, my policy covers property damage (to others) if my car is in these events.

Its real simple, here and in most other states: if there is any timing or ranking what-so-ever, then its competitive and you don't have coverage. Something for people to keep in mind when autocrossing OR doing track events. Quattro club events are covered -- I've asked my insurance company directly on two different occasions, because they have a very strict written policy of allowing NO timing devices at the track. YMMV with BMWCCS or SCCA events -- most of those I've heard to timing, so if you wreck, you're paying off a very expensive pile of metal.
