March 11-17
20th Annual US Open Snowboarding Championships For the past twenty years, the world’s top riders have religiously flocked to Southern Vermont each March to battle it out on Stratton Mountain’s hallowed slopes with one goal in mind - to take home the coveted U.S. Open championship crown. Over the years, the time-tested U.S. Open has proudly maintained its “by riders, for riders” mentality, has never lost the grassroots, fun feel that has defined it since day one, and has remained the most important gathering of the year for the global snowboarding community.
Founded by Jake Burton in 1982, the U.S. Open is widely recognized as the pinnacle event of each competitive season, and winning the U.S. Open has, and continues to be, a huge honor within the snowboarding world. From humble beginnings, the event was originally created for two reasons: to bring riders together from far and wide to have a great time, and to show the world which riders are truly the sport’s best. It was during the event’s early days that the camaraderie, spirit, and fun that have always remained the foundation of the U.S. Open were born. Today, Stratton’s Sunbowl Area supports the entire event, with the riders, spectators, and sponsors all merging to create one of the most exciting snowboarding experiences in the world! For registration information, call Burton Rider Services at 1-800-881-3138.
